2022 GSTA Conference Field Trips

Base fee:
  • Choose this option if you are registering for multiple field trips.
  • BT Brown Water Treatment Plant is an award winning water plant capable of pumping 10 million gallons per day. On this 90 minute trip, you'll learn about the phenomena surrounding drinking water production. Applications for earth, life, and physical science topics abound! Participants will drive to the location.
  • Come find out more about careers and job opportunities for students in the film industry. The field trip includes a 30 minute tour and 25 minutes of information about careers. Lunch will be provided after the tour. Participants will drive to the location.
  • Tour and hear from the design firm that coordinated the development of the Piano Key Weir Spillway at Lake Peachtree. Find out more about the engineering marvel designed to protect the city from flooding at https://www.schnabel-eng.com/projects/lake-peachtree-dam/. The field trip will begin with an introduction by an engineer at the conference center. Participants will be transported to the site by shuttle.

2022 GSTA Conference Field Trips

Field trips to unique location destinations can fulfill your scientific curiosity, help you learn about career opportunities for your students, and can expose you to authentic phenomena that can connect your students' learning to the real world. Register early to be sure you don't miss out! If you would like to register multiple trips, you will need to complete the registration for separately for each trip. All trips will meet in the lobby near the registration desk except for the Piano Key Spillway tour, which will meet a conference room.

Piano Key Spillway  Friday, 10:00 - 12:00pm  $15
Geology Tour: Impact Crater Sites CLOSED Friday, 1:00 pm - 4:00 or 6:30pm  $25

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All field trips must have a minimum of 10 participants or they will be cancelled - in this case a full refund will be issued.

  • Participants will provide their own transportation to the sites with the exception of the Piano Key Spillway tour. A bus will be provided.

  • No refunds can be given unless GSTA cancels the trip.

  • Tickets can also be purchased during the conference at the GSTA store in the Exhibit Hall).
