Hello everyone! My name is Brittany Moss, and I am honored to serve as the High School Representative on the Georgia Association of Marine Educators (GAME) Board. I am a veteran science teacher at Harris County High School, where I have had the privilege of teaching a wide variety of courses, including Biology, AP Biology, Dual Enrollment Biology, Physical Science, Oceanography, Environmental Science, and Earth Systems over the past 20 years. I hold both a Master's and Specialist degree in Secondary Science Education where I studied population dynamics and distributions of Gopher Tortoises (Gopherus polyphemus). I am looking forward to beginning work toward my EdD in the near future. Throughout my career, my passion has been focused on creating authentic, engaging science experiences that inspire and excite both students and educators. One of my greatest professional passions is connecting teachers with meaningful professional development opportunities that allow us to participate in "real" science. Whether it's shark tagging, ecosystem monitoring, field research, or other hands-on scientific experiences, I believe these opportunities not only strengthen our teaching but also help us bring science to life for our students. My goal is to ensure that students see scientists as diverse, relatable, and accessible, not just the stereotypical image of an older man with wild hair and a lab coat. I am incredibly excited to serve on the board, collaborate with fellow educators, and meet teachers from across the state. I hope to bring enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and a renewed passion for science education while helping connect educators with experiences that enhance learning both inside and outside the classroom. I look forward to working with each of you and sharing the exciting opportunities that help make science meaningful, relevant, and inspiring for both teachers and students. |
