"Beyond the Lab: Making Sense of Our World"

Unveiling the science behind every moment,  from the lab to your life.  Science is not confined to labs or textbooks but is woven into the world around us and is a gateway to understanding our daily experiences. GSTA invites discussions on practical science, community impact, and connecting theory with real-world challenges.

STRAND I: Science in Schools and Communities

Looking beyond the lab to engage learners and educators in place-based science, revealing the science embedded in their communities. Sessions and field trips will highlight Georgia’s industries, connecting local phenomena to science learning and career pathways. These sessions explore and share ways to bring industry insights into the classroom to make learning relevant and inspiring to students.

STRAND II: Reading, Writing, and Communicating Science in the Real World

Scientific literacy bridges complex ideas and everyday understanding. These sessions explore strategies for reading and interpreting scientific texts, writing clearly about science, and communicating scientific ideas effectively to diverse audiences.

STRAND III: Innovating the Future- STEAM and AI in Everyday Science

Integrating the Arts with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEAM) alongside Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming how we understand and apply science in context. These sessions highlight creative problem solving, design thinking, and the ethical use of AI technologies. Participants will discover how STEAM and AI together foster innovation, inspire curiosity, and prepare learners for an evolving world.

STRAND IV: Leading Change- Advocacy and Leadership in Science Education

Empowering educators, administrators, and community leaders to champion real-world, equitable science education. These sessions explore strategies for leadership, partnerships, and advocacy.

STRAND V: Exploring Our World- Physical, Biological, and Earth Sciences in Action

Explaining the world through sensemaking—helping students actively figure out how and why phenomena occur. Engaging applications in physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science, highlighting global connections and challenges. Educators will explore strategies and research to make science meaningful and relevant for all learners.
